Jersey Shore

November 17, 2009

O.M.G.

I’m a Jersey girl.  I’m damn proud of it.  Don’t judge.  I love NJ, I think it’s so misunderstood.  I adore Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, WaWa, jughandles, being close to NYC and Philly, not pumping my own gas, the “real” housewives, and…the Jersey shore.  Yup, I went there.  I’m going there.

I CAN NOT believe that MTV is going ahead and making a reality show about this!  I’m so appalled/excited at the same time.  Obvi I’m going to be watching every episode, but this show is totally why NJ has a bad name.  HILARIOUS.  The preview should really just be labeled cliché.

I don’t think I’m a cliché Jersey girl.  My hair isn’t particularly big.  I don’t fake bake.  I don’t particularly enjoy going to clubs.  I don’t do the fist pump.  However, not everyone in Jersey does that.  The reason this is so funny to me, is that this show is  not at all what Jersey is about.  I love that they are just perpetuating the idea that NJ is the armpit of America.  Fabulous.

Seriously, check this disaster out:

LOVE IT!

I totally think I graduated high school with one of the “guidos.”  Not to judge, but that’s not what I would want my life to be 10 years out of high school!

Truthfully, I’m not sure what possessed me to share this with you all, but I think it’s just good for a laugh.

I’ve only gone to NJ once. I actually liked it. I went for work and stayed for a week. I got to go to the coast, Long Branch, while I was there. It was awesome. I understand exactly what a jughandle is, but I have no idea how to use one. Thankfully, the boss drove.

that show looks like it’d be awesomely bad

here in oregon (portland especially) we just have a whole lot of green and bleeding liberals… you can go to the richest schools in town and find a hybrid with a Kucinich sticker. which is kinda awesome.

and i love that you get those people in the same state as old school farmers and ranchers. we’ve got a wide mix here, and i love that

Morgan, I love you and I love the fact that you wrote about this on your blog. Sometime last year, I saw a show (think it was on E!) that was based on this and then suddenly, it was over. I couldn’t find it again and I was devastated (sad, but true). I can’t wait to watch this! BTW, did you see that the Real Housewives of NJ are going to be on NBC’s Mercy? Too funny!

I love the fact that in Boston, you have access to some of the country’s best hospitals, colleges and universities and restaurants!

I’ve not traveled much within New Jersey, but I’m pretty in love with Hoboken. I’ll be honest with you, my campus here in Texas is swarming with people who look like the people in the video. I can guarantee you that Soup and I will watch that at least once.

Being in Texas, I love being able to visit the country, I love barbecue and Tex Mex, and I won’t lie… I love two-stepping.

I’m not from NJ, but we have vacationed in Wildwood and Cape May for 27 years! I’m a bit obsessed. I can understand. 🙂

Seeing as I totally love terrible TV, you better believe I will be watching! I am from Kansas and besides the blank look on people’s face that goes along with telling them I’m from Kansas, I love college basketball and fields of sunflowers!

that is so funny! I don’t know if I’ll watch it, but I can only imagine how ridiculous it will be 🙂
