8 Months Already?!?!

June 15, 2011

Every month I can’t believe how fast this time is flying by.  8 months already.  Unreal.  Somehow my baby is already 8 months old!  Though he is still a baby, he’s really turning into quite a big boy!  He’s already 21 1/2 pounds (more than 3 times his birth weight) and 28 1/2 inches long!  You better believe my arms are getting quite the workout with this guy!

This has been quite the month for Aaron.  First of all, he had his first vacation to Aruba, celebrated his uncle’s graduation from medical school, played in the pool a lot, went to Florida, switched to a big boy car seat, visited NJ twice, had lots of playdates and playgroups and visited the aquarium for the first time.

Aaron has been eating a ton (obviously..he’s a pudge!) and loves, loves, loves his food.  He adores bananas, apple, sweet potato, peas, bread, hummus, yogurt and attempting to get his hands on whatever anyone else is eating.  Yes, this kid is fast and if we blink, he’ll get what he wants!  He is also a little demanding when he eats.  He’ll kick his feet and jump in his chair in between bites, while waving his fat little hands.  We can’t get the food into him fast enough!

He’s also quite the flirt.  He loves to be in his highchair at a restaurant and look around and smile and bat his thick eyelashes at all of the pretty girls.  They always come over and ooh and ah over him.  Solomon and I will even let people we don’t know hold him, just because he is so curious about everyone, and so comfortable with anyone.  Aaron really does seem to thrive on the attention, and gets upset if people stop paying attention to him!

He’s quite good at keeping himself entertained.  He loves to talk to anyone who will listen, and also to himself.  He’ll just babble on and on and clearly knows what he’s saying.  It’s so fun to have a “conversation” with him.  He will really talk back and forth.  In addition to talking, he just randomly starts cracking up, which is always a hoot.  He also loves to wave (though he does it all the time, not just for hello and goodbye) and give people high 5s (when people hold up their hand for one, he kind of gets it!).  He loves to play with his toys, and some are definite favorites.  He can sit for long periods of time unassisted, and loves to spend time on his tummy (which he used to HATE).

Aaron’s sleeping can be hit or miss.  He goes to bed fairly easily, but I never know in a given night if he’s going to sleep through the night, or be up a few times.  He also went from being a calm sleeper, barely moving an inch in his crib all night to tossing and turning all over the place.  As soon as we put him in his crib for the night or a nap, he turns right on his side.  Then who knows where he’ll end up.  He does turns and rolls and moves all over.  It’s not uncommon to put him on his back, and find him in the morning at a 90* angle to where we placed him on his belly.

Solomon and I are so lucky to be Aaron’s parents.  He’s such a wonderful little boy, full of happiness and life.  No matter what’s wrong, that sweet face can always make me smile.  He loves his mommy and daddy too, and especially loves hugs and kisses from us.  He is so lucky to have so many people who love him too.  My wish is for every child to feel the kind of love Aaron feels.
