Apple Picking

October 2, 2011

Dear Aaron,

Fall is in the air!  Your daddy and I love fall.  We love the colors, the clothes, the food, and all of the fun things we get to do.

To kick off fall, we did something I’ve done many times, and that you and daddy (who has lived in New England his WHOLE LIFE) have never done.  We went apple picking!  Can you believe daddy and I have been together almost 9 years and have never gone apple picking together?  I can’t either!

We started out on a train which took us to different places in the huge orchard.  I think this was your first time on a train, and you seemed to enjoy yourself.

You were pretty comfortable in your prime spot on daddy’s back.  Maybe not your favorite place in the world, but you were pretty happy.

Look at how pretty all of the apples are.  Such bright colors!

You were very eager to try and pick your own apples.  As usual, you wanted to be a part of everything.

The apples were absolutely enormous.  Kind of ridiculous, no?

I think it’s safe to say that you were a fan.  After we gave you the apple you gnawed at it for quite some time.  You didn’t get too far, but that didn’t stop you.  Even though you had your own, you also begged for bites from mine and daddy’s apples. Picture 482
Maybe it felt good on your poor, aching gums.  When you weren’t chewing on an apple, you were chewing on your fingers.  Poor baby, 3 teeth coming in at once can’t be fun!

After we were all done, you tried to climb all over the train.  I held you back!

Then we had to do an obligatory pumpkin patch photo shoot.  You were more than a little distracted!

Next up is the pumpkin patch!  You got to pick apples, so now you’ll get to pick pumpkins.  1 for each of us-daddy, me, you, Rufio and Gracie!

This was so much fun.  I hope this becomes a family tradition every year (and that daddy makes apple pie every year too.  He made his first pie ever with the apples we picked and it was out of this world)!

I’m so glad I got to be with you and daddy the first time you both picked apples!
