One Year

October 13, 2011

Dear Aaron,

One year ago you came into the world, and it’s been a better world ever since. This has been by far the most amazing, though fastest, year of my whole life. I wouldn’t change a single second of it.

Daddy and I have been very lucky with you from the start. You’ve always been a good boy, who likes to sleep, eat and snuggle. We’ve really had a good time with you.

This year we did sooooo much. The first big thing was your bris. I know both of us would like to forget that!

You celebrated your first Halloween,

and your first Thanksgiving.

Went on your very first road trip to New Jersey,

Picture 085

Where there was a party so that everyone could meet you!

Picture 254

You survived your very first (of many) big snowstorms,

and helped Daddy and I celebrate the New Year.

We had a very special ceremony for you called a pidyon haben,

Picture 261
and you tried solid foods for the first time.

Picture 107

You began to sit all by yourself for long periods of time,

Picture 210

and we learned that you are a true water baby! You are always so happy when you swim.

Picture 038

You went on the swings a lot this year, which is one of your favorite things to do,

Picture 383

and you went on lots of airplanes.

Picture 048
You visited Aruba where you went in the ocean and played in the sand,

Picture 047
and visited your great grandmother in Florida.

Picture 091
After Florida you decided you were done with baby food and began to feed yourself, though you also developed a love of spitting.

And just to further prove you are a big boy, we switched you to a big boy carseat.

Then it was off to Israel for 2 weeks.

Once we got home you finally decided to get mobile by first crawling backwards, then eventually figuring it out.

Picture 078

You also learned to pull yourself up to standing, though you would much rather be on your knees.

Picture 180

You made lots of messes and got yourself into some weird situations…

Picture 037

…but you always have managed to make us smile,

Picture 073

because you are such a big ham.

Picture 028
This is just a snippet of what you did in your very first year. You’ve been busy, busy, busy. I didn’t even mention all of your visitors, all of the people you visited, your new friends, playgroups, activities, various long weekends, family dinners, restaurants you’ve tried, fun new things you’ve eaten and fun day activities you’ve done with daddy and I.

You’ve really had an amazing first year, and I hope that each following year is this good or even better. With you in our lives, I know daddy and I will have a better year each and every year that you are there to make us smile.

We are so head over heels in love with you, and couldn’t imagine our lives without you. Thank you for being who you are, for always making us happy, for showing us how to love the little things in life, and for making the lives of everyone around you better. You are a remarkable little man, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you.

Love,

Mommy

P.S. I set this to post at 3:48 in the morning, which is exactly when I met you for the first time. They immediately handed you to me and I said “hey, I know you.”. I still can’t believe that was a whole year ago.
