What Every Grocery Store Needs

December 17, 2009

It’s almost the weekend!  YEAH!  I’m excited for this weekend, it’s going to be busy, but fun!  The weekend kind of started last night, with Solomon’s office holiday party.  I didn’t eat a whole lot, because there was mostly meat (there was boar and ostrich, no joke), but I still had a lot of fun, he works with some really nice people.

I didn’t know what to expect for food though, so I decided to have a light snack beforehand.  I had never tried Oikos Greek yogurt before, so Kristina at Stonyfield offered to send me some coupons so I could give it a try.  I picked up a 4 pack, because I thought the little sizes were cute 🙂

DSC03584 I love that they sell small, plain yogurts!  I tend to prefer plain over other flavored Greek yogurts, and I plan to buy a lot more of these in the future :).

DSC03585 So I searched the kitchen for some inspiration to mix with the yogurt, and remembered I have one of the world’s greatest creations right in my kitchen!

When I was in Boston, we headed to the new Legacy Place shopping center.  They have some great restaurants and shops, movie theater, bowling, and one of the best Whole Paychecks Foods that I have ever seen.  What was so great about it you ask?  This:DSC03259 Yes my friends, that is a make your own Trail Mix bar.  I was all over that.

DSC03258They have 4 different kinds of granola that you can pick as a base.

DSC03261  A whole variety of nuts, fruit and chocolate chips 🙂

DSC03260 Seriously, how amazing is this?  I really think every grocery store in the world needs one of these.  LOVE IT.

I made a mix with regular granola, almond slivers, pineapple, raisins and chocolate chips.  It’s heavenly.

DSC03311 DSC03313 Solomon’s mix had vanilla granola, cashews, raisins and chocolate chips.  I think he is also in love.

DSC03314Oh, so back to my inspiration, right?  I threw some of my trail mix into my new found yogurt (which I loved by the way, thanks Stonyfield!) and had some happy taste buds.  I have searched far and wide for the perfect snack for before a party, to keep me full, but still allow me to enjoy some of the yummy treats, and I finally found it!  Now if only I could head back to Boston every weekend to restock :).  No harm in petitioning the local grocery stores, right?

DSC03586 What’s your favorite snack before a party?  Or do you just go hungry and enjoy everything the party has to offer?

Don’t forget about my Annie Chun’s giveaway or the Wusthof giveaway!

Please also head here, and sign the petition I talk about!

Any fun plans tonight?

You know I’m watching Jersey Shore!

I got the free Oikos too! I’ve been a yogurt eating machine. SO jealous of your personalized trail mix- I actually live in Boston and know where the trail mix bar Whole Foods is but my wallet just cannot take it!

I like to eat a small meal or a salad before a party. Depending on if it’s finger foods or a meal being served.

Its really disgusting that they served boar. We have boar roaming the streets in our neighborhood here in Haifa. Not kidding. Next year, tell his co-workers to come here for the holiday party!
